The Field 96 Project

Field 96 is more than just a baseball diamond, it’s a place where community comes together, friendships grow, and kids create memories that will last a lifetime.

Located at Living Memorial Park, Field 96 has been revitalized into a vibrant gathering place for Summerland Minor Baseball players, families, coaches, volunteers, and fans. What was once a field in need of restoration has become a source of pride for the entire community… filled with cheering crowds, evening practices, big hits, and young athletes falling in love with the game of baseball.

This incredible project was spearheaded by the Taylor family and made possible through the generosity, hard work, and dedication of an entire community that came together to build something meaningful for local kids and future generations.

To date, more than $515,000 has been raised through grants, donations, sponsorships, fundraising initiatives, and community support. A major milestone for the project came when the Toronto Blue Jays Field of Dreams Program awarded Summerland Minor Baseball a $185,000 grant, which was matched by the District of Summerland to help bring the vision for Field 96 to life!

The project has included major upgrades to the field and surrounding area, including site improvements, updated infrastructure, and a brand-new scoreboard, creating a space where nearly 250 local youth players can learn, compete, grow, and make lifelong memories.

This project would not have been possible without the support of so many incredible people and organizations. There are so many to list, but we truly thank you all!

Field 96 stands as a reflection of what can happen when a community works together for its youth.

BUT the project is not finished yet…

Summerland Minor Baseball is continuing fundraising efforts for Phase 2 of the project; bringing lights to Field 96.

Adding field lighting will allow for evening games and practices, expanded programming, tournaments, and unforgettable “Friday Night Lights” experiences for players, families, and fans. The goal is to continue building a field and facility that serves the community for years to come.

Thank you, Summerland, for believing in this project, supporting local baseball, and helping create something truly special for the kids in our community.

How to Support

In 2025 the Field 96 Project was awarded with the Jays Cares Field of Dreams Grant.

In addition, Summerland and surrounding communities have rallied together to help SMBA and the Taylor family reach their $750k goal.  The gofundme has surpassed $76k and is continuing to grow.
